Fourth Sunday after Pentecost: Jesus Feeding the Five Thousand
Jesus showed compassion on the people and met their needs. How about imitating Christ’s compassion by putting the needs of others ahead of our own? How about staying up late with a disappointed relative or friend rather than getting our sleep? Let our schedule be interrupted to comfort or listen to somebody else.

FIRST SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST
When we approach the table that is fully laden with ‘food for the way’, let us be fully embraced by Christ through His sustaining Body and Blood. Draw near to Christ, because he has drawn near to us by offering himself. Allow him to come closer by partaking in the communion, he will only come closer still.

Pentecost Sunday
Almost all of us have a greater difficulty in understanding Holy Spirit! How do we picture the Holy Spirit? In Acts 2, Holy Spirit is likened to a violent wind and tongues of fire. In Mathew 3:16 the Holy Spirit is compared to a descending dove. Elsewhere the Holy Spirit is experienced through various gifts (See Epistle readings from I Cor. 12:4-11) and fruit (Gal. 5:22-23). Let’s praise Almighty God with all our hearts while kneeling down for the blessings of the Holy Trinity during the Special Liturgy today; cry out ‘Kuiyalayison’ Lord have mercy upon us!

Third Sunday after New Sunday
Think about how it feels to be hungry- hungry in your stomach and hungry in your soul. Then think of the best bread you have ever tasted. Smell its yeasty aroma. What does it look like? Feel its crust and its soft interior with your fingers. Taste it. Savor the experience. What kinds of things are like bread for you- savory, filling, satisfying? Think of the descriptive words that come to you. But what does it mean for you to “eat” the bread Jesus offers? At your earliest opportunity (or this Sunday) be ready to receive God with a true contrite heart, by either confessing before the priest or partaking…

First Sunday after New Sunday
Jesus turned water into wine; he provided lunch for thousands; and in this passage, even after his glorious resurrection we see him caring for his own by providing them with what they need. In the same warm, companionable way, Jesus is with us now, asking, “Do you love me?” How will you respond? Whether it is an honest “no,” a “give me a bit more time,” or an unequivocal “yes,” today He wants to share his gifts of nourishment and life with us. He wants us to care for others with nothing less than his own love. As we conclude meditating on this Evengalion reading, let’s go out in the…
