Dr. Renjan Mathew is the oldest son of Late Ms. Gracy Mathew and Mr. Roy Mathew of Vengasseril family.  He was born and raised in Kottayam in the beautiful State of Kerala, India. From his younger days he is very passionate about the church liturgy and worship. He became an alter acolyte at the age of ten years and assisted the liturgical services at St. Mary\u2019s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Chapel, Illickal, Kottaym. He originally belongs to the St. Thomas Jacobite Syrian Church, Chengalam, Kottayam. \r\nDue to his passion towards the Church literature and Syriac language he opted to learn Church history and Syriac language and literature from the St. Ephraim\u2019s Ecumenical Research Institute (SEERI), Kottayam, as part of his college education. He was a Syriac student at SEERI for four years. After graduating from the Sunday school, he served as a teacher at St. Thomas Sunday School Chengalam and St. Mary\u2019s, Sunday school, Illickal. He also served as the Church Youth Association Secretary and committee member of the Kottayam Diocese. He has also worked in various church and ecumenical organizations. He has served as the Student Secretary of the Student Christian Movement (SCM), Kerala Region, and the Organizing Secretary of Syrian Orthodox Christian Students\u2019 Movement (SOCSMI). He authored, edited and published several secular and Christian articles and books. He served as the youth representative of the Syrian Orthodox Jacobite Church in various ecumenical forums like Kerala Council of Churches (KCC) and National Council of Churches (NCCI). He travelled extensively across India to represent and participate in various student related activities. \r\nBy profession he is a practicing Clinical Neuropsychologist and a Licensed Psychologist in Texas, USA and holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. He has received degrees and training from Manipal Medical College, University of Kerala and Mahathma Gandhi University. He also completed two years of post-doctoral fellowship in Texas. While he was working in Kerala, he was a regular invited speaker and Psychology subject expert at All India Radio, Cochin FM and at various TV shows and news hour discussions in Manorama channel, Jeevan TV, and Kairali Channel. \r\nAlong with the church activities, he was also associated with the activities of the ecumenical fellowship society formed by the renowned Indian Christian theologian and the former Chairperson of the World Council of Churches Late Dr. M.M Thomas, and received extensive theological mentoring and orientation from there. He also completed Post-graduate Diploma in Theology from the Dharmaram Institute of Pontifical Athenaeum, Bangalore, India. \r\nHe was called to the ordained ministry in 2012. On August 23, 2012 the Patriarchal Vicar of the Diocese of the Malankara Syriac Orthodox Church in North America, Arch Bishop Yeldho Mor Titus ordained him as Afudyaqno (Sub-deacon), and on January 4, 2014 as Samshono (Full-deacon). Later, on January 4, 2015 he was ordained as a priest at St. Ignatious Malankara Jacobite Cathedral, Dallas, TX. Since then he is traveling across North America to lead liturgical services at various churches. He is also instrumental in publishing the first service book of morning prayers and Qurbana in English, by compiling and translating the songs and prayers. He is also regular in publishing spiritual blogs and sermons at Orthodox Mediations and secular blogs and presentations under various titles. Currently he is also serving as the Secretary of the Kerala Ecumenical Christian (KECF) Clergy Fellowship, Dallas, TX. \r\nFr. Mathew is married to Ms. Nisha Mathew of Kaleeckal family, and the couple is blessed with their son Naithan and daughter Rebecca.
